New Brujeria Class Series – October 7th

The new Brujeria class begins October 7th in both online and in-person formats. Students may apply to take only the online class series or the in-person series. Both online and in-person students participate in the private Facebook study group together.

In-person classes meet at LightWeavers in Citrus Heights the first Sunday of each month from 10am until noon. This is a 12-month series and I ask that students commit to the entire course of study. For the first class, please have a notebook, pen, and a folder (to hold your handouts).

These are intensive, interactive classes that span a year of instruction for a total of twelve classes. Students receive the same instruction as Katrina’s own apprentices.

Online class material releases on the 1st Sunday of each month. This includes video instruction, a study pack to complete before the next month’s class begins, and access to a private Facebook study group. The study group is closed to anyone not taking the classes and is where the primary class interaction takes place. Here, Katrina answers questions, posts informative videos and articles, and leads discussions pertinent to that month’s class material. Students are encouraged to interact on the study group page, but are welcome to lurk and learn.

Please do not sign up for this class unless you are willing to take the process seriously and engage on a motivated and energetic level.

The fee for each class is $25 per month and is due before the new material for that month releases. Students are asked to commit to a full year of classes to provide continuity to the class environment. Once the first month of class completes, the class closes and no further students may be added.

Do not pay for your first month of class until you receive a message or email saying that your application is accepted. At that time, Katrina will send you a link to use to pay for your class through PayPal. You may pay month-to-month or you may set up a subscription to have your class fee automatically deducted each month.

Not everyone is selected for this class. Katrina will evaluate your application carefully and accept only those students who will be a good addition to the class dynamic. Please do not let this intimidate you. She accepts students from all cultures, ages, and levels of experience. You may be just the student the class needs.

To fully participate in this class, it is essential that students overcome discomfort with Christian theology and accept working with Catholic saints and holy figures. (You do not have to engage philosophies of the Catholic Church, but some aspects of Brujería involve a working relationship with both folk and Church-recognized saints, as well as scriptures, and students should prepare to engage that energy.)

This is not Witchcraft from a Wiccan perspective, but from the organic, pre-Wiccan foundation established in Meso-America and Mexico with some HooDoo influences from systems based on African Traditional Religions with some occasional Haitian influences. This is also not a Curanderismo class, although there are several overlapping modalities and influences since the practices are, when it comes to it, very similar in nature.

Tarot For Real People

Katrina Rasbold is the author of Tarot For Real People and has read the Tarot since 1982. She has worked as a professional reader since 1986 and served as an adult educator and public speaker since 1980. Katrina offers online readings for clients through her website at www.twosistersbotanica.com.

Anyone can read the Tarot. It is the same as learning to speak a foreign language. Those with psychic skills will ultimately become better readers for their ability to not only interpret what the cards say directly but also to catch other information that comes through the reading intuitively. Those who are not intuitively sensitive can still perform perfectly acceptable readings.

This is a fun, informative, fast-paced class that leaves you with a skill you can share with others for the rest of your life.

This six-month course covers the practical aspects of reading and understanding the Tarot, including classic interpretations, symbolism, numerology, spreads, & much more. This class is held entirely online.

Our first class releases on September 15, 2018. This is an extensive introductory level course that includes 6 months of instruction. The fee for the class is $25 per month. The fee must be paid before the new material for each month releases. Payment is made through Paypal with your Paypal account or a credit or debit card. If you are a student of Eric & Katrina’s classes at LightWeavers Academy, you may pay in cash there for your online classes.

Each student must have one of the following Tarot decks before the class begins:

The Rider-Waite Tarot

The Original Rider Waite Tarot Pack

The Universal Waite Tarot

The Smith Waite-Centennial Tarot

The Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot

Other decks may be approved by the instructor upon request, but any deck used for this class must include the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith illustrations and be a full 78 card deck.

You will also need a notebook dedicated to class notes and to journal your readings.

After the class material, including instructional videos and handouts, uploads for each month, students meet in a private Facebook study group that is “students only” to discuss the information for that month, share links to articles and other interesting things, and to explore and discuss random Tarot draws Katrina posts throughout the week. Students will also perform readings for one another as the class progresses.

Katrina will be very active in the study group several times a day and available to answer your questions within that venue. Your class fee includes:

  • 6 months of instruction, in the form of class videos and handouts
  • Access to the study group and all information that passes through it
  • Responsive, fast instructor interaction to answer all questions pertaining to the material
  • Readings from other students who are learning with you
  • Frequent one card Tarot readings and exploration of the meaning of that card
  • Quizzes to test your knowledge each month

Katrina does not accept all students who apply, so please do not pay for your class until you are instructed to do so. There are no hidden charges or fees for this class. Each class has a self-proctored quiz that lets you know if you retained the most important information from the material presented.

The link to Katrina’s book, Tarot For Real People, is here. It is also available at LightWeavers Academy. You are not required to purchase the book for this class. The class draws heavily from the information in the book, however, handouts with the necessary information are included in the context of the class.

This class has limited enrollment and no new students are accepted after the first month of class, students are asked to commit to the entire six months of the course. Enrollment for this class series closes at midnight on October 12th, 2018.

If you would like to apply for this class, please fill out the application below. Once you are accepted into the class, please pay your class fee or make arrangements with Katrina to pay the fee before the first class.

Brujería Class FAQ

Since the announcement that Katrina is starting a new class series on Brujería, several of you have asked questions, so we are putting those in an FAQ format for everyone’s benefit. Katrina answers your questions here:

Why is the class size so limited?

This is an interactive, hands-on training class that is intensive and sometimes one-on-one training in the art of Brujería (organic, authentic, Mexican conjure magic). This type of study is most effective within smaller groups.

Can I take the class online instead of in-person?

Yes! I offer this class in both in-person and exclusively online formats. Either format is $25 per month. Online students get the same training, but do not have the benefit of personal demonstrations and instead, must watch videos to learn the processes.

For class #2 on Cleansings and Clearings, I recommend that if at all possible, online students join us for the in-person class since it is highly beneficial to take this class in person.

Can anyone take the class?

I treat the students of this class as my own personal magical students. For those of you versed in magical practice, you know that there is a major difference in giving a lecture that someone attends and accepting that person as your personal student. Each of the students is trained in the same way I train my apprentices who work with me side-by-side.

For this reason, I will consider each application carefully and then select the applicants who I feel are a good fit. I recommend that anyone who is interested in the training apply. Do not presume that I would or would not choose someone.

Are there pre-requisites for this class?

Yes and no. Students are not required to have any certain level of training before taking the class. They must, however, be receptive to a few concepts that are different from most magical training.

First of all, Brujería is not a Pagan practice. Pagans make great Brujas/Brujos and I am myself a Pagan, however, Brujería itself is built around Catholicism. It is essential that all students who take this class purge any resistance they have to working with the Catholic saints, Jesus, the Blessed Mother, etc. Some Pagans, for their own personal reasons, are hostile toward any mention of Christianized religion. That is not something that will play in this class. Students must be open to ALL expressions of the Divine, including the ones mentioned here.

Secondly, Brujería does not follow Wiccan concepts and ethics such as three-fold law, the Wiccan Rede, etc. Some shifts in perspective may be needed to work within a Brujería construct if the student is accustomed to a strong ethical framework.

What is this about video classes? Are you recording the actual class?

I will offer a video companion class that covers the material for each class. This is for the benefit of people who wish to take the course but are not within commuting distance of LightWeavers or for ongoing students who have to miss a class. I am not recording the actual class. I will make a video that covers the material we address.

How long is the class series and how often do you meet?

At this time, I anticipate a one year cycle of training. Classes are once a month.

Do we get a certification?

Brujería is not a degreed or certified process. In fact, there is no initiation, no “diploma,” and no graduation. It is a shared learning process that presents as an apprenticeship. You learn processes and techniques within the scope of Brujería practice and then take them out into the world.

What will we learn?

Some of what I teach is proprietary and oathbound material. Each student must sign a non-disclosure, confidentiality agreement that is binding in order to participate in the class. Specific points on the curriculum include:

  • How to access certain natural energies essential to effective Brujería practice
  • Cleansing and healing techniques, including low-level exorcisms
  • History of Brujería and how it presents today
  • Cultural influences around Brujería
  • Reprisal magics
  • Basic Witchcraft information and techniques
  • Poppet and proxy work
  • Weather influences
  • Herbal, resin, flower, and wood influences
  • Incense making
  • Power grid creation
  • Crystal work
  • Magical dirts and powders
  • Magical washes and waters
  • Personal disciplinary techniques
  • Jar and bottle work
  • Energy movement, manipulation, and focus techniques
  • Manifestation processes
  • Elemental affiliations
  • Saints and other Divine figures

Are the classes “stand-alone” or interconnected?

Each class builds on the knowledge gained in the previous classes, so they are to be completed sequentially.

You said there is “homework?”

Each student is expected to complete written research and experiential work provided at each class and to bring that completed work to the next class. Part of the class involves reviewing information in the homework.

Tell me about the online study group?

I will create a private Facebook group that is only for my students. Within this study group, students may share information and discuss the homework assignments, class content, and other learning experiences they have while taking the classes. It is within this Facebook group that I will address questions about the class content so that all students may benefit from the discussion. If you do not have a Facebook profile, please create one before class starts so that you may participate in this aspect of training.

The online study group is thet hub of information for the students who are exclusively online students with no in-person interaction. The students who are exclusively online share a study group with the in-person students who are working on the same class schedule.

If I complete the entire year-long course, can I roll over into the next set of classes and take it again?

At the end of one year, I will offer the classes up again and current students are welcome to apply.

Are your every-other-Friday classes you teach with Eric going away?

No, our free every-other-Friday classes at LightWeavers are still scheduled and ongoing.

Do the Saturday afternoon Brujería classes ever overlap with the Friday classes?

Yes. Because Brujería classes are once a month and the Friday classes are every other week, there are a few months where they are during the same weekend. This is unavoidable. I have faith we can go full tilt magic for 2 days and I am confident we can enjoy the full magical immersion this creates.

Why do these classes have a fee and your Friday classes do not?

Historically, Eric and I have usually charged a fee for our classes to cover expenses such as gasoline, handouts, and materials. The exception is festival-based classes, which are always free. When we began teaching at LightWeavers, Susan asked us to offer the classes at no cost and we agreed to do so. The Brujería classes are resource, energy, and time intensive and as such, we needed to charge a fee for them.

Is the fee refundable if I miss the class?

No, the fee is not refundable, but you may use it to apply to the video companion class that gives you the same information or you may apply it to a future class.

Do you take checks for the class fee?

No. Class fees must be paid in cash before the class begins or through PayPal by credit card or PayPal account.

Do I have to register for the class?

Yes. Because space is limited and applications are vetted, you must apply and then be accepted for class. The application is here: http://sovereigntyworkshops.com/brujeria-classes/

Online & In-Person Class – Brujeria: The Sacred Arts

Due to high demand, I am offering a new Brujeria class series that starts October 7th, both in-person and online versions. Please read the following information carefully.~Katrina

These are intensive, interactive classes that span a year of instruction for a total of twelve classes. Those who take the classes are considered Katrina’s personal students and are expected to commit to a course of study that requires dedication and focus. Students receive the same instruction as Katrina’s own apprentices.

Class material releases on the first SUNDAY of each month. This includes video instruction, a study pack to complete before the next month’s class begins, and access to a private Facebook study group. Likewise, the in-person version of the class occurs from 10-noon the first Sunday of each month at LightWeavers Academy in Citrus Heights, California. In-person students also use the online Facebook study group along with the online students. Students are expected to complete the class material throughout the month before the next class begins. Each class builds on the information provided in previous classes.

Please do not sign up for this class unless you are willing to take the process seriously and engage on a motivated and energetic level.

The study group is closed to anyone not taking the classes and is where the primary class interaction takes place. Here, Katrina answers questions, posts informative videos and articles, and leads discussions pertinent to that month’s class material. Students are encouraged to interact on the study group page, but are welcome to lurk and learn.

The fee for each class is $25 per month and is due before the new material for that month releases or before the first in-person class begins. Students are asked to commit to a full year of classes to provide continuity to the class environment. Once the first month of class completes, the class closes and no further students may be added.

You do not pay for your first month of class until you receive confirmation that you are accepted into the class. Not everyone is selected for this class. Katrina will evaluate your application carefully and accept only those students who will be a good addition to the class dynamic. Please do not let this intimidate you. She accepts students from all cultures, ages, and levels of experience. You may be the exact student the class needs.

You may pay for classes month-by-month or you may set up a “subscription” that automatically deducts your class fee without you having to think of it each month.
